BIG PoD 6.14.2012
I was inspired by Emily's idea and chalk photo shoot, so I thought we'd try it in our driveway. Somehow, Bea's fake smile, Inga's very real frown, and Graham's detailed drawing of a blue brain didn't quite turn out as magical.
Elijah's birthday party
Elijah turned two! Katie is ready to have her second baby any day and she still made the cutest farm animal cupcakes. They were very cute and tastier still!
Our children definitely opened more of Elijah's presents than Elijah did.
We enjoyed a beautiful night outside and are so excited to welcome the next family member!
Dresser before/after
We sold the changing table that has been in the girls' room for the past four years, and picked up two used dressers instead. The style was questionable and they were pretty beat up, but the joints were dove-tailed and they are very solid. David worked his magic over the past few days. Here's a picture of the tall one before:
I didn't take a picture of the long one beforehand, but it had the same 50's trim that had been very abused by either an angry dog or a naughty child, and the same awful hardware which doesn't look so awful in this picture but really was awful.
David sanded down the top, removed the trim, and then patched and sanded the drawers before painting it all.
Here's the finished product in the girls' room. I think it turned out great!

First camping trip for the six of us!
We attempted our first family camping trip last night. We set up the tent just off of our patio, about fifteen steps from the back door.
The tent provided a perfect place to run, jump, dance, and do other tricks.
We roasted marshmallows, made s'mores, and decided that a kitchen sink is a necessity. We will not be packing marshmallows for a real camping trip until our youngest is at least fourteen.
The kids decided which partition belonged to which group of sleepers. Here is Graham's 'room'.
Here are Bea and Inga in their own little room. We slept in the middle section, which held our queen air mattress and William's crib mattress. The crib mattress, William, and mommy all escaped at 1:00 am when William decided he was ready to start the day. The other campers finished out the night.
It was a rough night for Will...
But we had such a good time!

Capturing Bunnies
There are few things in life that Graham yearns for more than to see a rabbit captured in the live trap he has set up in the backyard. So far, the rabbits have continued on their steady diet of hastas and lilies, ignoring the carrots Graham has strategically placed in the back of the trap. Graham drew this picture of the rabbit going in to the live trap, and pieces of the rabbit coming out. The details of the rabbit's brain, hip bones, and rib cage are especially disturbing.
