More Construction Photos

Here's the building crew, posing atop the edifice: (left to right) Don (my father in law), Aaron (brother in law), Scott (sister in law's husband), Adam (brother in law), me, and my dad, Paul.

After days of wretched weather, we finally saw blue skies yesterday, and the pace picked up on our construction.

Aaron and Scott worked late into the night yesterday getting our roof shingled. Actually, it was only about 5:30, but it sure looks late!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Our crew spent Thanksgiving Day working outside. The rain has stopped, the sun is out, and they aren't freezing anymore! We will celebrate with a Thanksgiving feast on Saturday when Scott and Emily come. Until then, we're working!

A Big Update 11-22-2006

Our guys measured the slab....and none of it was square.
David smoked a pipe and tried to think happy thoughts.

Adam was ready to fire the contractors. We all were.

Graham shares a treat with Grandpa Fink.

Aaron and Graham snuggled up for a nap.

With the contractors finally gone, work began!

The north wall went up quickly.

Then the rain started, but the crew kept working.

The east wall went up next.

Graham thinks Grandpa Slinger is funny!

Here's Graham and Grandpa Fink discussing paint colors for the siding.

Ankle Surgery

Sarah had her ankle surgery yesterday. All went well--the surgeon cleaned out a bunch of scar tissue and drilled some holes to stimulate cartilege growth. But she's off that foot for the next six weeks. Yikes. Graham and I are going to do some serious bonding in the weeks to come. We'd never make it if Sarah's mom hadn't come to town to help out, though. Here's the patient crashed on the couch drugged into a happy slumber. Get well soon, babe--we need you!

Some men enjoy reading whilst they sit enthroned in glory. Graham likes to read when reclining on the bed ease. Funny how his mom doesn't get mad at him for bringing books into the business relationship.

The Finishing Touch

Here's Graham leaving his mark on the drive leading up to our new garage.

Garage Update

It finally got dry enough this weekend to finish our foundation for the garage. The contractors finished digging the foundation this morning, it passed inspection around noon, and we poured in the afternoon.

Here Graham looks on in rapt attention. Perhaps someday Graham will go into construction?

Tonight Graham had his first sleep-over party. Jack's parents are at a wedding in Baltimore, so we had both of the Cracker Kids all day today and most of tomorrow. Jack and Graham played together this afternoon, and then we took them to the mall. After tacos at home, both of the boys needed a bath. Bathing is always so much more fun with someone to splash at.

White and Nerdy

This one hits pretty close to home, in more ways than one, I'm afraid. Thanks to John for pointing me to this little gem.
