Congratulations are in order for my very own Doktorvater, Prof. David Steinmetz. It was announced today that, along with George H. W. Bush, William Jefferson Clinton, John Roberts, and a host of assorted Nobel and Pullitzer prize winners, Prof. Steinmetz has been elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. For those of you who may not know, this is a very big deal--the academic equivalent of winning an oscar, though I don't think there's any shiny statuary being given away. The AAAS's Newest Member
