Memorial Day Parade

We attended Bayport's Memorial Day parade this morning. It was similar to the Rougemont, NC parades the kids are used to: horses, firetrucks, marching bands, and hard bubble gum candy. There were some definite differences though. Bayport's parade actually started right on time. There were no hillbilly wagons and a noticeable lack of rifles. Over all, the kids really enjoyed it.

Inga waited patiently for the parade to begin.

"I see lights!"

Inga waved to all of veterans in the old cars.

Graham loved the drummers.

Bea loved the candy.

Sticky fingers

Happy Memorial Day!

Goodbye Party

Finding dinosaur bones in Weinard's backyard

Alex, Emily, Tom, and Linnea were all part of our small group for many years

After one last day of loading, Paul and Dad enjoyed Weinard's beautiful backyard and a cool beer

My dear friend Susan

Wardles and Heather (Andrew's mommy)

Chad made some NC style barbeque for the meal. David thoroughly enjoyed it!

My sweet friend Alexa

Bea enjoyed a book

Graham said goodbye to his best friend Andrew. The moms definitely were more teary than the boys, which was probably for the best.

Chad, Jack, Ashley, Louisa, Sarah, David, and Graham (the girls were beyond crabby by this point and thus passed off to the grandparents). Thank you, Chad and Ashley, for the sweet send-off! We miss you already!

Packing up

Fink taught Graham the fine art of driving a dolly

The kids loved all of the boxes!

Bea and Bop

Our friends Alex, Emily, and Bethany graciously came Wednesday night to help box up the kitchen. We needed the help!

The truck is being delivered!

The truck driver let the kids climb up in the front. Inga loved it!

The truck trailer was a great dancing stage.

Bop was an excellent packer. Thank you, Bop!

Fink took a well-deserved break the morning our movers arrived.

Thinking about....stuff.

Inga gave Fink lots of kisses!

One last ride in the tire swing.

Daddy put Bea and Inga in a wardrobe box. I think it would have been easier if they would have stayed put.

Sweet goodbye with dear friends

Art of the Day: Bea edition

This morning David went outside early to shampoo the barbeque sauce that had splashed all over the seat of his car from the pig roast he helped with this weekend on base. While he was shampooing on one side of the car, Bea was helping with Daddy's car on the other side. Thankfully, she does not follow exactly in the footsteps of her Uncle Adam. Bea's tool of choice: purple sidewalk chalk. Adam's tool of choice: a rock. Bea's canvas: Daddy's crusty old (but faithful) car. Adam's canvas: our father's patrol car. I think today's art was more appreciated than the art of Adam twenty five years ago...
